The Ausonex™ OneStep is a state-of-the-art
technology used to provide a rapid, robust and accurate evaluation
of a subject’s ability to hear. This technology is especially
appropriate in subjects, such as newborn infants, who are unable
to respond to conventional behavioural testing.
Currently there are two ways of screening for hearing impairment
in newborn infants. One method, called the Automated Auditory Brainstem
Response (AABR), is accurate, but relatively slow. The other method,
based on Otoacoustic Emissions (OAE), is quicker, but less accurate.
The Ausonex™ OneStep technology combines the best of both worlds
– it is a next-generation Automated Auditory Brainstem Response
(AABR) device that measures the brain’s response to a unique
acoustic stimulus.
This technology provides two significant advantages over current
AABR devices:
- Ultra-fast ABR waveform acquisition means that testing can be
completed quicker than ever before, often in only 5 to 10 seconds;
- Ultra-fast ABR acquisition combined with automated ABR detection
and analysis means that a much more comprehensive and accurate hearing
assessment never available before can be performed.
.
The Ausonex™ OneStep technology provides unprecedented speed
and accuracy in hearing screening. It is the only system in the world
that provides ultra-fast ABR acquisition together with both fully
automated waveform detection and analysis. This provides, for the
first time, a system that delivers a complete picture of the hearing
physiology of each and every subject.
Effective utilisation of the Ausonex™ OneStep technology
can provide a number of significant benefits. Typically these include:
- Reduced Test Times;
- Improved Accuracy;
- Improved Robustness to movement (myogenic) artefacts;
- Reduced costs of hearing screening programs.
Ausonex™ is currently commercialising the OneStep technology
in collaboration with a number of Hospitals, Birthing centres, and
Audiology clinics throughout Australasia, South East Asia and Europe.
Other applications for the Ausonex™ OneStep technology exist
in areas such as: diagnostic audiology; the detection of acquired
hearing loss in adults; and veterinary applications such as hearing
screening in pure bred animals and ototoxity testing.
