Malcolm Hebblewhite BE(Hons) MBA)

Malcolm Hebblewhite brings to the CEO role at Ausonex over 20 years of demonstrated success in strategy creation, marketing, business development and technology commercialisation with start-ups and high-growth companies.

Most recently, Malcolm was based in Basel, Switzerland where he was responsible for all aspects of European marketing for the Australian medical device company ResMed Inc. (NYSE:RMD; ASX:RMD). Prior to this appointment he built and led the marketing team to drive growth in ResMed’s French business. Malcolm also held roles with ResMed in business development and investments and acquisitions in the United States based in San Diego, where he was involved in developing new and emerging markets and making strategic investments to maintain the high growth rate of the company.

Malcolm previously held positions in engineering design, product development and project management with ResMed in its start-up phase, followed by similar roles at global telecommunications player Nokia Mobile Phones, where he worked on the revolutionary Communicator range of telephones and accessories. He is the author of numerous patents and has been involved in the successful design, development and commercialisation of a broad range of consumer, medical device and telecommunications products.

Malcolm holds an Aerospace Engineering degree with Honours from the University of New South Wales and an MBA majoring in Marketing and Finance from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.”

Dr Andrew Bradley BEng, PhD, CEng, SMIEEE
CTO

Andrew Bradley is a Senior Lecturer in Biomedical Engineering at The University of Queensland as well as Electrical Engineer and a Senior Member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (IEEE). He possesses recognised world-class expertise in Biomedical signal acquisition, processing and analysis and holds a PhD in Machine Learning for Medical Diagnosis from the University of Queensland (1996)

Andrew has successfully held several industrial research roles such as with Canon Information Systems Research Australia (CiSRA) where he is named as inventor on those patents that form a significant part of Canon’s intellectual property rights to the JPEG 2000 standard.

Andrew is the author of over 20 publications appearing in international journals such as IEEE transactions, Audiology and Neuro-otology and Clinical Neurophysiology as well as over 30 publications appearing in the proceedings of both national and international conferences, such as the international conference of pattern recognition, international conference on acoustics, speech and signal processing.

Andrew has over 15 years experience in commercial research and development with companies such as The CRC for Sensor Signal and Information Processing (CSSIP), BT Exact Technologies (UK), and Serco Systems (UK.). During his time in industry Andrew was responsible for leading projects with annual budgets in excess of AU$1.5 million and project teams of four to six Engineers. He has also had valuable practical experience on projects that built the principle demonstrators required to demonstrate core capability for the commercialisation of research outcomes. Therefore, he comes to this project with a distinctive combination of academic and commercial experience which places him in an ideal position to be the technical lead on this project.

More recently Andrew was technical director of Biometix, a company, based at the Australian Technology Park, specialising in biometric risk management, security and standards compliance. Throughout his career he has been named as inventor on over 30 patents granted in the USA, Australia, Japan, Canada and Europe and is the inventor of the Ausonex™ IP.

Dr Wayne Wilson BSc(Hons), PGDipAud, PhD, GAICD, MAudSA CCP
Audiological Scientist

Wayne Wilson is a Senior Lecturer in Audiology at the School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences, The University of Queensland. He holds a PhD in advanced ABR technology from the University of the Witwatersrand (2001), and is a full member of the Audiological Society of Australia and the Asia Pacific Society for the Study of Speech, Language and Hearing. He also holds the Audiological Society of Australia’s Certificate of Clinical Practice.

 Wayne possesses recognized world-class expertise in the auditory brainstem response (ABR) and the brain’s role in auditory processing. This expertise comes from 15 years of research, teaching and clinical work in Audiology clinics around the world and at the Universities of Queensland, The Witwatersrand and Auckland. To date, he has completed over 5000 ABR assessments in humans and animals of all ages; has secured over 15 competitive research grants; has authored over 30 publications in international journals such as Audiology and Neuro-otology, Clinical Neurophysiology and the International Journal of Audiology; has presented over 40 presentations at national and international scientific conferences including 5 key-note addresses; and has been invited to speak at over 100 professional and public meetings, seminars and workshops around the world. Wayne’s ABR research has been described as having “considerable significance for both researchers and clinicians” (Cutmore, Clinical Neurophysiology 2004, 115, 998-1000), and his ABR and auditory processing research has lead to his appointment as chair of several committees including the Central Auditory Processing Disorder Task Force formed by the Health Professions Council of South Africa and the South African Government.

Wayne brings to Ausonex™ his reputation as a well recognized authority in the Audiology field, and his many long standing professional relationships with the world’s leading researchers, clinicians and administrators in ABR and hearing assessment of both humans and animals. This, combined with his distinctive combination of research, academic and clinical experience, places him in an ideal position to be the clinical lead on this project.

Wayne’s desire to improve on current methods of determining hearing impairment in neonates was instrumental in laying the foundations for Ausonex™ IP.

David Israel

David has a diverse background across higher education, business and technology. During the late '80's David was involved in managing major institutional strategic change in the higher education sector helping drive efficiencies from organisational restructuring and changes to the management and governance of universities. He then worked in commercialisation and internationalisation of education as Director of Continuing Education at the University of Adelaide.

More recently, David has experience in the development and commercialisation of technology products and services having developed several online business services and a number of applied technology including automated control systems, vehicle management systems and software solutions. David is UniQuest’s commercialisation manager for the School of IT and Electrical Engineering.
